The film of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Swedish: Man som hatar kvinnor), directed by Niels Arden Oplev and starring Noomi Rapace, launched in UK cinemas in March 2010. The movie has been a critical and commercial phenomenon, selling to 25 countries outside Scandinavia and being seen by more than 6 million people worldwide. It was produced by Yellow Bird, the team behind the Wallander films.

A faithful, arresting adaptation, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was described by Total Film magazine as 'magnificent and dazzling', by GQ magazine as 'breathlessly exciting' and by the Daily Mirror as 'edge-of-your-seat thrills from start to finish'. The performances of Michael Nyqvist (as Mikael Blomkvist), Noomi Rapace (as Lisbeth Salander) and Sven-Bertil Taube (as Henrik Vanger) have been particularly praised. The UK DVD release is scheduled for Summer 2010, and we also expect the films of The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest to be in UK cinemas by the end of the year.
